FREQUENTLY
ASKED QUESTIONS
I
am a non-North American reader - why can I not download your e-books
and digital audio-books? The site I tried says they are "copyright
restricted" or denied because of "territorial copyright".
What is this?
The short answer is: this is a mistake - a big one. See the Audio
and E-books page for an explanation and the solution that's
on the way.
Why
am I not receiving the Heads Up Email Alerts?
Many internet service providers are now using server spam filters
which monitor incoming email. Those filters may bounce the Heads
Up emails back as spam without you being aware of it. If our server
gets two successive Heads Up emails bounced back, it will delete
your email address from our list. You may receive an email message
from the bot-keeper of our list telling you your address has been
deleted. If it has, but you still wish to receive our emails, contact
your internet service provider and tell them you wish to receive
emails from slaurens@vicnet. net.au, then resubscribe. Unless you
clear our email address with your server, then even if we resubscribe
you, you will still not receive the Heads Up Alerts. FYI, my internet
service provider recently put on a new filter that decided my publisher,
the second biggest in the world, was a spammer, and refused to let
their emails through - not until I rang and told the service provider
to change it! It's a sad day when using the word "love"
is enough to get you labelled a spammer.
Why
can't Stephanie tell me when her books will be released in Germany,
Hungary, Japan, Brazil, Indonesia, etc, etc?
Because Stephanie isn't told and doesn't know. There is no requirement
for foreign publishers, and that includes the UK and Australian
publishers, to inform Stephanie of release dates. In addition, few
countries have such fixed and definite release dates as the US.
Why
aren't the covers of the UK , Australian, Spanish, Dutch, German,
Russian, Italian, etc, etc editions all up on this site?
How big do you want this site to be? In addition, Stephanie does
not always receive copies of her foreign editions, and then only
months if not years after release. Consequently, the information
on this site is restricted to North American releases, those being
the only ones Stephanie has any direct influence or detailed knowledge
of.
Regarding
future heroes...
In addition to the Cynster connections and elders, the following
gentlemen have stories coming - sometime - Timothy Danvers, Viscount
Breckenridge, from The Ideal Bride, James Glossup from The Perfect
Lover, Neville Roscoe from The Edge of Desire, Heathcote Montague
from more stories than I can count, Lord Justin Vaux from The Edge
of Desire, Jeremy Carling from A Lady Chosen, Fabien Morduant from
The Promise in a Kiss, and a few others whose names are suppressed
the better to surprise you. Their stories will come!
Regarding
further volumes in The Casebook of Barnaby Adair...
Two more volumes featuring Barnaby, Penelope, Stokes and Griselda
are planned. They are expected to be released in the next few years.
Regarding Augusta (nee Cynster)...
She makes numerous appearances in both Cynster and Bastion
Club novels as the Marchioness of Huntly, a major hostess, occasionally
further identified as Helena's sister-in-law. Edward, Augusta's
son, is not a Cynster in any way - he takes after his father, who
is relatively dull and boring, and Edward naturally spends his time
more with his paternal relatives than his maternal cousins. As he
is not a Cynster, he doesn't appear in the Family Tree (he was added
for The Promise in a Kiss because he was mentioned in it, and we
forgot to remove him for a few more books, but as he's not a Cynster
he has no claim to just be dangling there). His sister - the child
Augusta was expecting in The Promise in a Kiss - is Marjorie.
Regarding connections between Cynster and Bastion books...
For those who haven't realized, the Cynsters and their associates
appear in the background of the Bastion Club novels, and in some
cases vice versa - the two groups of novels are not separate but
rather are two perspectives on the same group within society, the
same "world" - ie 'The World of Stephanie Laurens'.
Regarding 2-in-1 publications...
Please note: Various 2-in-1 editions of some of my books will continue
to appear in various outlets - these are reissues. You will never
find new, first time in print books of mine in a 2-in-1 format.
Yet for some, a 2-in-1 may be the first time you've seen some of
these stories, so if you come across them and don't have them, the
2-in-1 is a cost-effective way of picking them up.
Regarding Cynster females and other possible stories...
And yes, there are still 5 Cynster girls' stories coming along to
entertain you. They've had to be put back because of the Quartet,
so will now most likely be released in 2012 or so, so you have lots,
lots more to look forward to.
